Gardens & Parkland
New additions to belvedere are the Doves and Peacock chicks, which can be seen near the glasshouse in the walled garden. Lough Ennell's visting hooper swans are still with us. They look very like our native mute swan, except they have a yellow bill, they are also much noisier, and they make a hooping sound as they fly and as they communicate with each other. Cormorants can usually be seen sitting on the rocky outcrops offshore of belvedere. Cormorants are one of the largest birds to be seen on Lough Ennell and are a protected species. ![]() With 160 acres of Grounds and Gardens, there's always plenty to see outside as well as in; whatever the time of year you visit. Wander around our beautiful walled garden and enter our Thomas Messenger style Victorian glasshouse filled with an array of exotic plants or delight in the many splendid woodland & lakeshore walks. ![]() |
